Paragon Radio Story Conclusion

And that was pretty much it. The story was never completed. I had a pretty good rough outline of what was going to happen and where the story would go. However, getting to those points was the problem. Our heroes would get tied into this long story arch that would have them chasing enemies from one to another. But there would be some key points in the story that sadly I had no idea how I was gonna fit in there and keep it the actual main focus.

1. Recruiting of the PR staff. Which lucky for me at the time wasn't to big to put into the story but was slowly growing. And some staff were leaving.

2. Our heroes still had to get office space and set up the station. But where would they find time for it as the story arch kept them going deeper and deeper and end up getting caught into a strang web of war amongst the villian groups.

3. Our faithful narrator would have to eventually be more then just a shadow. And learn about what already happened and what he did differently each time to try and change the future.

Eventually, our heroes would have an interaction with every single villian group in the game. They wouldn't even encounter the Rikti until the very last part of the second book. The first book alone was going to be huge story. And its in the last part of the book that will tell if history will repeat itself or not. As I said. I already completed the outline on how the story was going to be carried and such. It's done. Sadly, lack of support from the staff as well as the changing of the station to MMO Radio and changing the focus from a dedicated CoH station to an all MMO station caused the project to die. The only upside was that it still lead into the creation of a new project. But due to extreme lack of support. What I posted already like a month ago is all that is alive for those stories. Click on the MMO Radio tag on the side to find those stories quickly. Those had no outline or anything. Kinda wrote them as I went. MAybe ill rewrite the story outline and change all the names and locations to break it away from CoH and the disbanded radio station. Only problem is coming up with that many names and chaning the super hero abilities as well. Lotta work. Creative Work. Dunno if I even have it in me to try. The outline as it is , is already huge.

Origins of Paragon Radio Ch 9

Track Nine Fire Doesn’t Hurt

Buddha looked through the window.

“I don’t see anyone so guess it’s safe to go through here.”

Inhibitor pushed the window open and slowly crawled in. He scanned the area.

“Looks like we caught their operations before anything has had a chance to begin. I see a few shipments scattered around and that’s it.”

Buddha and Radio Wave crawled through the window. The three stood on a broken catwalk. Every step caused it to creak and wobble. Radio Wave closed her eyes while walking forward. Her body absorbed all sounds.

As they made their way through the catwalk, Radio Wave could sense a strange presence in the room. She felt eyes watching her. She opened her eyes and looked around.

“What’s wrong, Hon?”

“Someone is watching us. It doesn’t feel natural either. Only its not directed at Buddha or me. It’s directed towards you, Inhibitor.”

Inhibitor looked at the shadows of the room.

“It’s probably nothing. We need to keep moving.”

Radio Wave looked down. Hellions dashed across the room moving large crates from trucks and into the warehouse. In the center of the room stood a Hellion with an orange-red aura. The three heroes watched as he signed papers and directed the merchandise.

Buddha pointed to the far side of the room.

“That’s not a Hellion.”

Inhibitor turned his head and looked at Buddha’s target.

“That looks like Joey Shirt. He works for The Family. But, why would he be here in Atlas Park.”

“Looks like they have new business partners.”

They watched as the Hellion in charge walked over to Joey Shirt and handed him a package. Joey shook the Hellion’s hand and walked towards the door. Buddha quickly stood.

“Damn! We can’t let him get away.”

Buddha leaped from the catwalk and into the center of Hellion traffic.

“Hey! Where do you think you’re going Joey?”

Radio Wave slapped her forehead.

“Damn it, Buddha. Think first.”

Inhibitor wrapped his arm around Radio Wave and teleported behind Buddha. Inhibitor pointed the palm of his left hand at the ceiling and formed a shield of energy around them. Radio Wave quickly extended her arms out to her sides. Sound stopped. Reality slowed down. She looked at Buddha.

“Go.”

Buddha leaped towards Joey. The air was sucked into a ball in front of Radio Wave. Time seemed to completely come to a halt. The small ball erupted and sound exploded into the air. Time returned too normal and the sudden shock of speed surprised Buddha. He slammed into Joey Shirt and pinned him into the wall.

The Hellion leader pointed at Radio Wave.

“Kill them!!”

Hellions charged in and opened fire. Bullets bounced off the shield and flew wildly into the air. Slammers and Slicers stepped through the shield. Inhibitor pointed his other palm at the oncoming Hellions and formed another shield around the two heroes. Radio Wave lifted her hands in front of her. The slicers lifted into the air. She then swung her arms to the side and the Slicers flew into the Gunners.

Buddha shook his head. He looked around.

“Crap. Had him in my hands too.”

“Buddha!”

A barrage of fireballs hit Buddha in the back. He turned and looked at his attacker.

“You little…”

Buddha charged forward and punched the Hellion high into the air.

Radio Wave continued to use Hellions as throwing weapons. She paused. She could feel herself appear in someone’s aim. She looked up and saw several Gunners stationed on the catwalk.

“Hib! Up there!”

Inhibitor dropped the shield and teleported onto the catwalk. A blast of wind shoved the Gunners on to their backs.

Buddha grabbed the Hellion leader by the head and flung him into the nearby crates. The Hellion leader’s body burst into flames.

Enemies around Radio Wave dropped to their knees as she dominated their minds. They howled in pain as visions of horror filled their thoughts.

The Hellion leader grabbed a hold of Buddha and set his body on fire. Inhibitor teleported behind Buddha. The air around them dropped in temperature and the flames on Buddha vanished.

The ground around Radio Wave shook and large edged rocks burst from the ground incasing the enemies in stone cages.

Inhibitor subdued the Hellion leader immobilizing him instantly. Buddha walked up to the Hellion Leader.

“Your name?”

“Bite me.”

“Your name?”

“I said…”

Buddha punched the Hellion leader in the stomach.

“I won’t ask you again. Your name?”

The Hellion leader coughed and tried to regain air in his lungs.

“Des…truc…tor.”

“Destructor?”

Inhibitor raised the oxygen levels so that Hellion leader could breath easier.

“He’s one of Battalion’s cronies. He’s nothing more then a middleman. Why were you dealing with Joey Shirt?”

“Hellion’s were promised territory.”

Radio Wave searched through Destructor’s mind.

“The Hellions are at war with the Skulls. There’s going to be a showdown with the Skulls in a few days. The Family has given them a new weapon to test out against the Skull’s. That’s all I can get out of him. Everything else in his mind is foggy.”

Buddha wrapped his hand around Destructor’s neck.

“Where’s war going to take place?”

“Go to hell.”

Buddha threw the Hellion into the rafters. Radio Wave hit him in the shoulder.

“Damn, Buddha, why do you do things like that. He’s our only lead.”

Inhibitor teleported next to Radio Wave with an unconscious Destructor.

“Looks like we’ll need to get us some new leads then.”

Radio Waved glared at Buddha.

“What? How did I know that was going to knock him out cold.”

“So what now genius?”

“Maybe, we can look for information out on the streets. Hellions aren’t too hard to find. We just need to rough them up a bit and get the answers we need.”

Inhibitor dusted himself off.

“So what are we waiting for?”

Origins of Paragon Radio Ch 8

Track Eight We Don’t Need Your Help

Radio Wave glared at Solace’s eyes. She felt uneasy and scared in his presence. She had never felt such strong sources of evil.

Buddha leaned back in his chair.

“This place is pretty good. The food isn’t too bad. Now I know where to go eat when I’m in Atlas.”

Radio Wave stood from her chair.

“I’m sure the ideas you have are very interesting, but we have more important matters to take care of right now.”

“Whoa. Relax hon. Sol said he can help us out and I would like to know what help he can offer.”

“What we need is money? Tell me. Is that something you can provide? Are you going to give us a hand out just out of the kindness of your heart?”

“Please, Hon, just calm down.”

“I will not calm down. We have a lot of things we need to take care of and talking to some wrestler you happened to meet in a locker room isn’t one of them.”

“We at least owe him enough time to explain…”

“We don’t owe him anything. Now if you’ll excuse me I have a meeting with Inhibitor. He has real help to offer.”

Solace placed his cup down on the table.

“Inhibitor currently has no leads or any ideas right now. The battle in Perez Park has left him in such a devastated state of mind that he is unable to think straight right now. In awhile, he’s going to call you asking you to meet him in King’s Row. In his company will be his sidekick Cirga and one of his officers. A girl named A-Zay.”

Radio Wave looked at Buddha.

“I don’t trust him.”

Solace stood from his chair.

“I know you don’t. But, when you are ready to trust me give me a call. You can also find me in Skyway City. Currently, I’m under Mynx’s employment. So you can find me with her. Until then, read these.”

He tossed an envelope onto the table and then left the restaurant.

Buddha turned the envelope. It read: To Buddha and Radio Wave.

“This is in your hand writing.”

Radio Wave examined the envelope. She couldn’t remember writing on any envelopes. She opened it and read its contents.

“This is a lease.”

“For?”

“It’s a lease for office space. It’s located in The Gish. That’s where Inhibitor lives. We’ve signed it as owners, including Inhibitor.”

“We’ve signed it?”

“These are our signatures.”

“How is that possible?”

Radio Wave tore apart the lease and dropped the pieces into her glass of water.

“We don’t need his help.”

“Wait a minute. We could have at least…”

“I said we don’t need his help.”

Before Buddha could speak Radio Wave reached into her pocket to retrieve her cell phone.

“This is Radio Wave. Hi, Inhibitor, how are you? I see. Okay, we’ll head over soon as we can. Take care. Bye.”

“What’s up?”

“We need to go to Inhibitor’s place.”

Buddha knocked on the door. He could hear sirens and screams outside.

“Not exactly the safest place to live is it?”

Inhibitor opened the door. Buddha could see the sleepless night he had in his eyes.

“Hi you two. Come on in. Sorry if I don’t look presentable right now I’ve been awake all night. Every time I close my eyes all I can see are panicked heroes caught off guard and trying to stay alive.”

Radio Wave placed her hand on Inhibitor’s shoulder.

“All of us that survived that night are having those same nightmares. We can’t let them run our lives though. Rather then dwell on the battle we should wonder on why it happened. Most of those groups that appeared are enemies. There has to be something behind the whole battle.”

“Actually, I sent out Cirga to do some investigating. I have yet to hear from him though.”

Buddha peered out the window. He could see heroes speeding down the streets. The ringing from behind him then broke the silence. Inhibitor walked across the room and answered.

“This is Hib. Hey, how are you doing? I’m doing as well as I can. So what information do you have for me? Uh huh. I see. Okay I’ll head over there right away, thanks. You too. Take care.”

Inhibitor turned to Radio Wave.

“That was Gregor Richardson. Hellions are causing a disturbance in a warehouse in Atlas Park. Sorry we have to cut this meeting short.”

Radio Wave stepped forward.

“We’ll go with you.”

“I’ll be fine.”

“No you won’t. You haven’t slept at all. We’ll go with you and help keep you safe in case things go bad.”

“Okay.”

Buddha looked across the street from Inhibitor’s apartment building. He noticed a For Sale sign in the window of an empty building at the corner.

“Why does that address look familiar?”

Inhibitor looked at the building.

“That used to be an radio station. It was closed down when the Rikti attacked. I’ve wanted to purchase it, but someone already has owner ship of it. I guess they are trying to sell it as well and make a profit of some kind.”

Buddha looked at Radio Wave.

“This is The Gish you know.”

“I already told you. We don’t need his help. We’ll manage fine without him.”

Buddha sighed and followed the two towards the tram station.

Song Twelve

Since the attack in Perez Park I have made it my own personal job to continuously keep watch over these three heroes. Never would I let them out of sight. However, that proves difficult when trying to stay hidden and you don’t posses the art of invisibility.

Heroes all around have battled the Hellions. What makes this battle so special is the discovery of information that turned a simple mission to break up the Hellions party into a mission of trying to save the world. Many new heroes would join the ranks. The station would be set up with one day having the hopes of becoming the first radio station to broadcast specifically to super heroes.

Origins of Paragon Radio Ch 7

Track Seven A Hero Walks Into A Bar and Says Music

Buddha sat on the bench and stared at his locker.

“I can’t believe I’m back doing this again. Who am I kidding? Even if I put on a superior show I’ll still only make enough for a months rent. Just doesn’t pay to be a super hero.”

A tall hero walked into the room. His strange steel blue armor was void of all noise. Buddha would not have noticed him had he not sat down next to him.

“You look kind of down there buddy. Did the crowd boo your performance?”

“No, I haven’t performed yet.”

“I see. So what’s the problem then?”

“I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but I really don’t feel comfortable talking about my problems with someone I have never met before.”

Hah, fair enough. I better go get warmed up for my match. Take care, buddy.”

“See you around.”

Buddha tosses his towel into the locker and stared at the ground.

“How much lower can a hero stoop too?”

He slammed the locker shut and headed out to the ring.

Buddha stepped into the light. The screams of fans filled his ears. His thoughts about people remembering who he was had been washed away by the giant signs and posters with his name and face on them. He knew the money from the match wouldn’t be too good, but he felt good inside knowing that to the wrestling fans he was still a somebody.

As he climbed into the ring he took a glance at his opponent. It was the hero that he spoke to in the locker room.

“Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Arena of Heroes the one place in Paragon City where heroes can battle each other in a journey to become the prime champion hero of Paragon City. In our first match today we have someone that needs no introduction, you remember him as the only hero to wear the gold belt for three consecutive years. The tanker of ultimate power, Buddha!”

The crowd leaped from their seats and cheered. Buddha tried to keep from getting choked up and jumped onto the ropes and started to get the audience even more fired up.

“And his opponent. A hero that is new to the circuit. A tanker that claims to have even far superior strength. He is, the Unknown!”

The hero stood and waved. The crowd hissed and booed at him.

“And now let the battle for the gold begin!”

The bell sounded and the two heroes walked into a circle staring at each other. The armored hero lunged forward and tackled Buddha to the ground.

“I don’t understand why you are so down in the dirt. The fans love you.”

Buddha kicked the hero into the air and then leaped after him. He grappled him and prepared him for a pile driver.

“That’s not why I’m down.”

Buddha drilled the hero into the ring. He lifted up the stunned hero and slammed him into the ring. The hero slowly stood and anchored himself against the ropes. Buddha rushed forward. His opponent dropped down and flipped Buddha out of the ring. He climbed onto the ropes and elbow dropped off the top.

He lifted Buddha into the air and flung him into the barriers around the ring.

Buddha shook his head.

“You are going to pay for that one.”

“You talk pretty big for such a little man.”

Buddha pounded the ground and sent a shockwave at his opponent. While his foe attempted to maintain balance he jumped into the air and punched the hero through the barriers and into the audience. Buddha landed onto of the hero and started to unleash a fury of rapid jabs.

The hero kicked Buddha into the air and jump kicked him back into the ring. Buddha picked himself up and was knocked back down. The hero continued to kick Buddha while he struggled to stand.

The audience cheered for Buddha. His name was being chanted throughout the arena.

Buddha pulled his opponents leg right from under him. He stood and started to spin the hero around in the air. He then released his grip and the hero flew high into the air and crashed into the rafters. Buddha knelt down and then launched himself into the rafters.

“How about we give them what they want," Buddha thought to himself.

Buddha grappled with the hero. He then lifted the hero up and leaped off the rafters.

Buddha suplexed the hero straight through the center of the ring. The audience fell silent. A hand reached out of the hole. The hero crawled out of the hole and then lay silent on the mat. Buddha followed the hero out of the hole. He turned over his opponent and dropped onto of him.

Buddha sat on the steps to the arena and thumbed through his earnings.

“This barely even covers food for the month let alone rent and money to start up a station.”

Buddha’s wrestling opponent sat down on the steps.

“Hey, there. Not to bad a match I guess. Had to pay for repairs to the mat and the barriers and the rafters but still made some okay money. Especially, for a single match. I just might do this more often.”

“It gets tiresome after too many times. People start to think of you as a wrestler instead of a super hero. The whole thing is demeaning to us, but there’s no other way for us to make money quickly and in liveable amounts.”

“So why not just stop being a super hero and get a real job. Live a normal life.”

“Cause this is all I know. And besides, look at me. Do you think a normal person is going to hire someone that outmatches them in mass and power? How’s a boss supposed to intimidate his employee when his employee can punch holes through walls?”

“Good point. So become a hero trainer. Work at Freedom Corps. They get federal funding and the people that work there get real money and not this influence stuff that they give us.”

“I can’t anymore. My fiancé has plans for us and for me to just turn my back…”

“You won’t be turning your back. You will simply be working to raise money to support the two of you. She’ll understand that.”

Buddha stood and dusted himself off

“I really need to get going. City Hall closes in an hour. It was nice fighting you…uhh…Unknown Hero was it?”

“My name is Solace. Solace Arzada. I have to head on that way as well. Mind if I join you?”

“I guess not. Might be able to find something to beat up on.”

“You mean arrest.”

Hah, yea. Arrest.”

Buddha stormed out of City Hall.

“You have to be kidding me! Security level ten!?”

Solace followed behind.

“Don’t let it get to you alright. It isn’t as hard to get as you think. Let’s just start up a temporary team and go find some crime to stop and before you know it we’ll have level ten access in no time.”

“It’s too late in the day. I just want to go home and rest and think about what to tell Radio Wave.”

“Don’t be so down.”

“You don’t understand. What she wants to do requires a heck of a lot of real money to purchase.”

“Then help me understand. What is it you two are trying to do?”

Buddha sighed. He looked up and stared at the giant statue of Atlas.

“She has this dream where we own a radio station and through this station we bring people together with the use of music. But, what makes it a unique station is the fact that it would be dedicated to all super heroes and it could be used as an information highway for super heroes as well. A person can make a call and the information would be announced right on the station and it would alert all the heroes that are listening. At first it sounded kind of far fetched. I mean there are lots of stations out there. And they all use music as a weapon. But, they are all run by normal people and so they only give information that would be useable by normal people. I wondered what information could we give and then something happened. An army of enemies attacked us. If the station existed then the reporter we had at the rave would have instantly alerted us and we could have got the news out into the airwaves in a matter of seconds. Heroes would have been there sooner and fewer heroes would have been lost.”

“I see. There is great reason for a super hero radio station. However, running a station isn’t going to be easy. You can’t do it alone. You need a team first.”

“I know. We want to at least have something to show that we are serious. That’s why I came to City Hall. I thought maybe I could register a group, but I don’t have the security level needed in order to begin one.”

“So that’s why you were at the arena. You need money for office space.”

“Yea. A lot of money in fact.”

“I might be able to help. There’s a restaurant in Hyperion Way called City of Gyros. Meet me there tomorrow for lunch. Bring Radio Wave with you. I’ll fill you in on my plans at that time. Until, then, you get some rest and just enjoy the rest of the night. Why not take Radio Wave to the theatre? The critics gave Elena four stars.”

“I don’t know if she’d be very interested. I might go though. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a play. You wouldn’t know it by looking at me, but I was in theatre back in college. I kind of liked it. It was a lot of fun.”

“Why’d you stop?”

“I accidentally smashed a hole through the stage and the lead actress fell in and sprained her ankle. Her father was the stage director.”

“Ouch. Well, anyways, go see the show. Enjoy yourself. And I’ll see you tomorrow. Take care, Buddha.”

“See you around, Sol.”

Song Eleven

I’ve been introduced to Radio Wave several times now and still our introduction has been a bad one. Her powers have given her the ability to sense many different things about a person and instantly judge them. The only person she has never been able to read is Inhibitor. His power is so far beyond Radio Wave that it’s like poking at a solid lead wall with a toothpick.

The alien technology that I wore confused her senses. In the back of her mind she knew she could trust me and that I was pure and good. But, in the front of her mind she sensed extreme amounts of danger coming from me. In her mind I am one of the greatest enemies she would face. The Rikti armor contained such evil in itself that it caused her to think of me as evil and not the armor. My mind didn’t help my situation much either. She saw the name Arzada Solace, yet I was traveling under the name Solace Arzada. She could see strange visions. Visions of events that had not yet happened. It took a while to get her convinced that the thought in the back of her mind was true and the ones in the front were wrong.

Origins of Paragon Radio ch 6

Track Six He Sings Like A Broken Record

The stage had been destroyed. Clean up crews gathered the rubble into large trucks. Leftover food had been consumed by the creatures of the night. The entire set up on stage now lay in shambles. Medical crews gathered what remains they could find of the fallen heroes left behind by the Vahziloks. Injured heroes returned to the scene and offered what help they could in cleaning up the mess.

Inhibitor limped through the rubble that was once an amazing library of music and equipment. He used a broken table for support as he crouched down to dig through the mess. A sparkle of gold emerged from the dirt. He pushed the dirt aside and found a gold colored CD.

“A library of over a thousands CD’s and this is the only one that survived.”

He placed the CD in his bag and slowly stood. Cirga patted him on the back.

“Its okay man, the important thing is that you lived and didn’t suffer the same fate as some of the other fallen heroes.”

“I know. It’s just that this was my entire life’s work. I was a DJ way before I even thought about being a hero. This is who I really am and now…I’m just some hero.”

Radio Wave handed a box to Inhibitor.

“You’re a hero with great taste in music.”

Inhibitor opened the box. It contained over a dozen CD’s.

“Th…thank you very much Ma’am.”

“I thought I might help out the park officials clean up this mess and I started finding CD’s that weren’t damaged so figured, hey, why not collect them for the DJ.”

Inhibitor hugged the box and smiled.

“My name is Inhibitor and this is my sidekick, Cirga.”

“My name is Radio Wave and this is my fiancé, Buddha.”

“Oh a fiancé, congratulations my rather large friend.”

Buddha rubbed the back of his neck.

“Heh, thanks buddy. It wasn’t exactly the way I wanted to propose, but the meaning and all that good stuff was still there.”

“That’s all that’s important.”

Radio Wave stepped forward.

“I was wondering if you would join us for lunch at the Lonesome Tear.”

“I don’t really know. Last night has been such a shock to me that I think I just want to stay home for a while. Our captain, A-Zay, has told me that they have confirmed several of the dead heroes to be new members of our group. They never even had a chance to escape.”

“I know this is hard for you. It’s hard for each and every hero of Paragon City. But, I have business to discuss with you and it’s not something that can wait.”

Inhibitor began to limp away and then looked back.

“I can meet you there at twelve thirty five. There are a few things I have to take care of first.”

“We understand. Then we’ll see you at the café, Inhibitor. Take care and make sure you get that limp taken care of.”

“I will.”

Song Nine

I’ve never really known much about Inhibitor. His true introduction had been done while I was away from the team. I do know that every time I am around him I feel this powerful aura emanating from him. Powers too high for me to even comprehend. He is the first hero to join the team. He’s known as a defender. A hero whom possess extraordinary powers in healing and enhancing the abilities of heroes and keeping the enemy in a weaken state. He proved to be very useful to the team by joining at this stage.

However, like all well-known teams, one must begin with a plan. And Radio Wave had many of them.

Radio Wave smiled.

“Thank you for joining us Inhibitor. It was starting to get a little late and for a second there I wasn’t sure if you were even going to show up.”

“Sorry. It’s not easy to fly when you have constant pain in your leg.”

“I thought you said you would have that fixed.”

“I did. But, when I realized how late I was I rushed out of the shower and ran into my desk.”

“Ouch.”

“Yea. So where’s Buddha?”

“He has some matters he needs to take care of for us. In the meantime, I have something to ask you. Would you be interested in joining us in creating a radio station.”

“A radio station! Ha! And just where do you propose to get the money for something like that. It’s not like they just hand them out to people that ask for one.”

“I said. Buddha is taking care of some matters for us. Now like I was asking. Will you should join us?”

“What is it that you have planned?”

“There are many stations in Paragon City, but they are all run by civilians and so they don’t have the information heroes need in order to keep the city safe.”

“And you propose.”

“A station that does just that. It will be called Paragon Radio. Our purpose is to bring the city together with the use of music and to aid heroes in their fight against crime. We can give newsbreaks dealing with issues that actually matter to super heroes. Such as what happened last night. I don’t even know how word got out about what was happening. I guess someone was lucky enough to escape to get help. But, if the station had existed at that moment, we could have had a reporter already there watching the party and as soon as that battle began, we would be announcing it on the station and heroes would have been there sooner. We could have prevented some if not all of those deaths. So I’ll ask you again. Will you join us?”

“Why me?”

“Because, I sense something in you. You would be of an extreme amount of help. And besides, you are already a DJ so that would help out a lot as well. Buddha and I aren’t exactly born and raised DJ’s.”

“Hm…Can you give me some time to think about it? I don’t want to just rush into anything here. I mean it all sounds good and such, but I don’t want to join it and then end up having to leave the following day.”

“I understand. Here’s my number. Give me a call as soon as you have an answer.”

Inhibitor took the piece of paper from the table and placed it in his pocket. As he stood he groaned and touched his thigh.

“I’ll give it some heavy thought Radio Wave. A station dedicated for the heroes of Paragon might be what this city needs after what happened last night. How you get funding for such a tremendous thing is well beyond me. I hope you succeed though.”

“Thank you. Until, we meet again.”

Song Ten

To join a group with someone you have never met is a tough decision. It becomes even more difficult when it’s not just any normal old group and is in fact a group that will change Paragon City forever.

Paragon City has two types of currency one used by civilians and one used by heroes. The problem is that heroes still require having real money in order to purchase certain things, such as a studio apartment and office space. No one ever said that it pays to be a hero. I changed history dramatically when I first traveled back in time and because of that it is required that I continue to do the same things in order to cause Paragon Radio to actually happen at an earlier time. Originally, it took a long while before the station was actually up and running. Both Radio Wave and Buddha hit rock bottom and took upon any jobs they qualified to do in order to raise the money needed for a studio apartment and office space. However, since my arrival the station has been up and running in half the time. I arrived in the past with a bag that contained items from the future that were still valid during this time period, one of them being a lease for some office space. The station, however, would have to grow on its own.

Buddha traveled to City Hall to get the license for creating a super group. The next step was money. And the only place to get money quickly would be to return to the Arena of Heroes and put on a good wrestling show for the patrons. The two of us would put on a fight that seemed more real then it did staged.

Origins of Paragon Radio ch 5

Track Five Without Endurance We Are Useless

Spine and blade scrappers held the first ranks. The first wave of enemies consisted of the weaker and newer recruits. Oscillators took the sky to battle the blasters. Electric blasts illuminated the area.

“Controllers, back up the defenders with heals! We need to keep our heroes alive! Dark Armor users we need those dark embraces up now!! I need all martial art and claw scrappers to replace the first ranks so they can recuperate. Fire blasters focus your attack on all Vahzilok minions! We need to bring down those embalmed abominations before they reach our offensive line!”

Lieutenants and Dukes marched forward and began to tear holes in the heroes’ second ranks. Scrappers dropped to the ground from electric burns. Exhausted scrappers from the first ranks charged in to hold off the enemy a little longer while defenders continued to keep them alive.

Eidolons and Aberrants crushed the minds of scrappers. Controllers created a third rank and stood by the scrappers trying to keep their minds free of harm and keeping their injuries healed.

Radio Wave used gravity control and tossed enemies into their ranks of mind controllers.

Buddha continued to fight his urge to join the scrappers and keep the defenders safe. He could hear music in the back of his mind. He felt calm and prepared. He then noticed a group of oscillators circling Radio Wave.

“Radio, look out!!”

She turned and saw a bright flash. The sounds of slug shots ripping through metal filled her ears. As she lowered her arms and looked up she saw a young blaster salute her. She nodded to him and then focused her attention to the battle.

Scrappers continued to hold the offensive line strong. Assembler Dukes and Telsa Knights struck hard. Scroungers flooded in and pushed the scrapper ranks back. The first and second hero ranks began to suffer massive loses.

The Circle of Thorns remained in the back keeping their temporary allies alive in order to crush the heroes. Energy mages sniped the scrappers from afar. Blasters flew lower and lower to the ground, as they grew tired. The next wave of enemies marched in.

Abominations and Princes tore through the scrappers. The melee heroes were tossed out of the shields and into groups of awaiting mobs. Controllers quickly became no match for the new wave of enemies. Madness mages and Blasters focused attacks on single targets in hopes of pushing the enemy back. Reapers and Mortifcators began harvesting body parts from the scrappers that were thrown out of the shields.

Buddha heard someone hitting the ground. He looked behind him and saw one of the defenders had collapsed from exhaustion. Many of the defenders used each other for support in order to keep from stumbling over.

“Oh no.”

He looked at the stone tanker next to him.

“If the shields go down…”

A fierce roar sent horror down the heroes’ backs. The ground shook and the voice of a single controller could be heard in the distance.

“They’re coming out of the lake!!”

The back of the stage exploded. There stood a creature of superior size and strength. It looked like the swamp had come alive and behind this red creature marched in an army of smaller green versions of itself.

Buddha felt his heart stop.

“What are those?”

Radio Wave turned her attention to the new enemy.

“Blasters!! Focus all attacks against the swamp creatures!! Storm Controllers we need to buy more time!”

Blasts of wind held the enemies in place. A moat of ice surrounded the heroes. The waves of enemies slipped and struggled to keep their footing. Tentacles burst through the ice and cleared paths for the enemies.

Radio Wave put her hands together and closed her eyes.

The shields coverage grew smaller. With no first or second ranks left, and minimal remains of a third rank the enemies had breached the offensive line. The few remaining controllers fell back and attended to the defenders. Tankers prepared for battle.

The swamp creatures shot projectiles from their mouths and the blaster ranks depleted at amazing speeds. The blasters then flew in close and focused all attack powers on the red swamp creature.

Tankers battled the Abominations and Princes. Super strength tankers ripped apart the abominations and swung them at the swamp creatures. The lake monsters devoured the dismembered vahzilok’s to replenish their strength. Elemental tankers did what they could to hold back the clock works. Gears froze and armor melted and circuits overloaded.

The shields dropped. Buddha looked behind him. The remaining defender looked up at him and shook his head.

“I’m sorry. I’m just…too…tired.”

As the defender collapsed Buddha felt the cold hand of fear. He turned and looked at Radio Wave. The leader of the swamp creatures stood before her. It raised its hands.

Radio Wave’s eyes opened and her arms quickly extended out to her sides. A wave of sound erupted from her body. All enemies came to a stand still. The heroes looked around. They stood in a dome of absolute silence. She looked at the heroes and moved her lips.

“Run.”

The tankers grabbed what heroes they could carry and headed into the water and towards the western wall. Remaining blasters dropped mines on the ground and then flew to safety. Radio Wave grabbed Buddha’s arm and led him into the water behind the rest of the fleeing heroes. As she stepped out of the dome, sound returned to the area.

The enemies chased the heroes into the water. Skulls and Hellions guarded the western banks and launched their attack on the oncoming heroes.

The heroes had been surrounded. A group of only eleven tankers, one controller and four blasters would be no match for an army comprised of clock works, vahzilok minions, lost, skulls, hellions, circle of thorns, and hydras.

Using what strength she had, Radio Wave formed a shield of sound around the heroes. Blasters fired at anything that got to close. Tankers tried to keep the enemy at bay using knock back style attacks, but soon became overpowered. Hydra’s knocked the tankers to the ground and Eidolons kept the blasters stuck in states of mental breakdowns.

Radio Wave stood in the center of the group and took a deep breath. With no endurance left she felt useless and helpless. The sound barrier that helped protect the heroes had dropped. She held Buddha’s hand and looked up at him.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Song Eight

I think of myself as a coward and a hero. I ran from the park before the battle had begun. I could have been there to help protect the other heroes. But, if I stayed then I probably would have ended up with the same fate as some of those fallen tankers. Someone needed to call for help. I traveled into Atlas and told Ms. Liberty of what was to transpire. She was skeptical about what I told her and disregarded my warnings and continued granting heroes new security levels.

The battle had begun and I hadn’t even arrived in Steel Canyon yet. I thought back to the times I was sent back to this era. Every time I contacted someone to bring help, there was always an excuse or disbelief that would eat up time. Why would no one believe me the first time around? Is the future truly set in stone? Am I supposed to take this long getting help? For what reason though, why couldn’t help get there sooner. I have never had the courage to ask Buddha what happened when the battle was taken into the lake. He always seemed to stop telling the story as soon as he got to the part of the story.

News had finally arrived at Freedom Corps. Within a few seconds an emergency distress call was sent out across Paragon City. Heroes ranging from as low as security levels four to as high as security level forty raced to Perez Park.

The first to arrive on the scene were the famed Protective Units of Paragon. The defender units were fast at work at healing fallen heroes. Tanker and Blaster units started pushing back the army of enemies. The cavalry had arrived. Swarms of heroes reached the park. Tanker units formed paths for defenders to begin work on fallen heroes. Scrappers and blasters caused the ranks of enemies to disperse and the controllers instilled horror into the minds of the enemies. I joined in and helped push back the hydras. As I fought my way through hydras I kept a constant look out for Buddha and Radio Wave. It was this moment in history that Buddha has refused to talk to me about. They had escaped the fight, but where had they hidden themselves.

Today marked the day that Perez Park would be labeled a danger zone. Only heroes of at least a security level seven would be allowed in to the area. The enemies’ alliances where broken and they soon set up camps throughout Perez Park.

I waited at the entrance to Atlas for a few hours. The night had turned to day and still there was no sign of Buddha or Radio Wave. I decided to head back to Atlas alone. I knew where they would be the following day, but I didn’t know what happened to them during the finale of the battle.

Origins of Paragon Radio ch 4

Track Four The Music is Too Loud and the Party Crashers Aren’t Helping

Lights filled the sky. Energy blasters floated in the sky creating amazing displays of fireworks. Radio Wave dressed in a backless red sparkling dress and red gloves. Buddha had a tough time finding clothing to wear. He had finally found a store that sold clothing specifically for heroes of his size.

Scrappers kept the partygoers fed and the tankers patrolled the area. The stage had been set up with a library of rave and dance music. A long white haired defender on the stage stopped the music and spoke into the microphone.

“Welcome to the third annual Rave in the Park. I’m your host, Inhibitor of the Army of Heroes. I hope you are all having a great time tonight. Now before we get things rolling here I’d like to make out a few shout outs. Shout out to Major Flanders for catering the party as well as the local Pizza hub. We’ve got a great show for you all tonight. The Controllers of Notes are here. I’d also like to give out a personal shout out to the Army of Heroes. They’re keeping on the look out for evil and lastly, a shout out to my good friend Cirga. He’s my latest apprentice into the DJ circuit. Later in the show I’ll be passing on the mic to him so give him a good welcome and lets get this party started. Here’s a little Omnibus for ya.”

Buddha walked over to the bleachers and sat down next to Radio Wave.

“I wasn’t sure what ya wanted so I just grabbed a little of everything.”

Radio Wave giggled and reached for the pizza.

“Thank you sweetie. I’m glad you asked me out. Perfect night too. The sky is clear and the air is clean. It’s been such a long time since I have had a chance to simply relax.”

“Yeah I know. I spend so much time arresting criminals that I never have time for relaxation. But, now that I’m with you, I think it’s time I spend a little more time away from that stuff and spending it with you.”

“What do you mean?”

“Uhh…well I want to make our relationship stronger.”

“It will get stronger. We can fight crime together.”

“Yeah, but, well…have you ever thought about giving it all up and just living a normal life. A life away from all this crime fighting.”

“Sometimes I do. But, then I think about the way the city is. Even though there are lots of super heroes, we still can’t be everywhere at once. I feel kind of bad right now though. Somewhere out there is some poor woman that is being mugged and there is no one to stop it because the heroes are either in a different part of the city or here at this rave. I don’t think I could ever leave this kind of life. I was granted a special gift and it would be a waste to just let it go unused.”

Buddha looked down at the ground. He felt a little guilty bringing up such a topic. She was right though. To have a special gift and to simply cast it aside for ones selfish purpose sure wasn’t a very heroic thing to do.

“Buddha? Do you have any dreams?”

“Just one really. But, I haven’t thought much ahead though. What about you?”

“Well, I know it sounds kind of funny and I know you’ll laugh at it, but I’ve always wanted to run a radio station, but not just any kind of radio station. It would be a station whose sole purpose is to bring the city together with the use of music. And not only that, but it would be used as a sort of information high way for all super heroes.”

Buddha smiled at took Radio Wave’s hand.

“It’s an excellent idea.”

The music stopped and the DJ spoke up.

“We’ll get back to the music in just a second. I just wanted to announce that the Scrappers of Goodies have just finished setting up their table. Currently, we have many great items there for you to fill up your super appetites with from delicious cakes to scrumptious pies and pastries. Also, my assistant Cirga here will be taking any requests that you might have so come on up here and tell him what you want to hear. In the meantime lets back to some music, this is a nice bit of music I stumbled upon while traveling to Talos. It’s called Into the Earth.”

Song Six

It hurts to me to watch any of this. It not only marks the most important event in Perez Park history but it also marks the birth of a powerful super group, but what saddens me is the fact that this will be the first and last date they ever have together. I have seen this scene over and over except for some reason things feel different. I walked to the back of the stage and looked out over the lake. I realized it was not that there was something different, but that it was that this time I was aware of something that I had not been aware of before. I stepped into the cold water and made my way to the other side. I knew exactly from where the enemies would emerge from and I knew exactly how many would appear.

I reached the other side of the lake and quietly walked towards the drain. Fifth Column agents poured containers, marked with a strange emblem, of strange liquid into the water. After all these travels, I finally knew the truth. I felt a strange presence in the woods. As I scanned the area I could see clockworks marching through the forest along side members of the Circle of Thorns. After all these years I thought the Fifth Column staged the whole ordeal. I quickly rushed back to the party. I could feel the clock ticking down. The swampy ground twitched. Soft growls and moans emanated from the water. Reporters called it The Slaughter of Perez Park. I however call it, the birth of Paragon Radio.

Radio Wave stood from her seat and walked towards the lake. She could feel strange energies headed towards the party.

“What’s wrong hon?”

“We’re under attack.”

A guard jumped into the middle of the party.

“We’re under attack!!!”

Clockworks appeared from the shadows of the forest. Blaster flew high into the air and a volley of blasts kept the enemies at bay. Scrapper intercepted the mysterious cultists.

From behind the heroes appeared large groups of Lost. Aberrant’s quickly grabbed a hold of heroes’ minds and caused them to fall to the ground. Embalmed abominations marched into the party and exploded. Heroes fell from the sky and tankers were quickly defeated.

“We have to get out of here!”

Buddha grabbed Radio Wave’s arm. She yanked her arm away and looked at him. She was going to stay and fight. He sighed and nodded his head.

“Defenders into the middle!! We need shields up immediately! Tankers gather around the defenders! Scrappers and Blasters fall in. Controller’s we need those Aberrant and Eidolon mind holds broken!”

Shields of all kind erupted into the area. Tankers stood in unyielding stances around the defenders. Controllers teleported heroes into the shields and broke the mind holds. Scrappers formed a ring around them and the blasters floated just above them. Heroes felt their skills being enhanced by the controllers and defenders healed as many heroes as they could handle.

Song Seven

The heroes of the Rave party had regrouped under the command of Radio Wave. The battle for their lives was about to begin. Clockworks marched in from the south. Members of the Circle of Thorns marched in from the east. The Lost and the Vahzilok marched in from the north. However, the deadliest of the enemies had not appeared yet. Just west of the party deep in the waters of Everett Lake arose the army of the marsh. A new breed of enemy designed for the sole purpose of killing any hero they stumble upon. The hydra was born.
